Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating a Haven account or joining a family on Haven, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Haven.
2. What Haven Is
Haven is a family coordination platform that helps households manage tasks, documents, and finances. The service is provided by Haven Lab Inc., a corporation incorporated in Ontario, Canada (heyhavens.com).
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must provide a valid email address. Each email address may only be associated with one account.
4. Your Data
You own your data. Haven stores your tasks, documents, and financial information on your behalf. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as required to operate the service (see Privacy Policy).
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Haven for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other families' data
- Upload malware, harmful code, or illegal content
- Reverse engineer or scrape the service
6. SMS Messaging Program
Program name: Haven Lab Inc.'s SMS service ("Haven SMS") — recurring task reminders, daily and weekly summaries, and AI assistant replies delivered via the Haven bot at +1 (518) 628-2189.
Message frequency: varies based on your tasks and notification preferences (typically 5–30 messages per week). Frequency is driven entirely by what you ask Haven to send you; you control it through the notification settings on your member profile.
Message and data rates: Message and data rates may apply. Haven Lab Inc. does not charge a fee to send or receive SMS messages — your mobile carrier's standard rates apply.
Help and opt-out:
- Reply HELP on any Haven SMS and Haven will reply with support information.
- Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe — Twilio handles the opt-out at the carrier level. You will receive a confirmation from your carrier and no further messages will be sent.
- Reply START (also handled by Twilio at the carrier level) to re-subscribe.
Haven does not share SMS phone numbers or message content with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. SMS service is provided through Twilio. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.

7. Subscription and Billing
Haven offers a free tier and a paid Family plan ($5.99/month or $59.99/year). Paid plans are billed monthly or annually.
Automatic renewal. By subscribing, you authorize Haven (or, for iOS purchases, Apple) to charge your payment method at the start of each subscription period at the then-current rate, and again at the start of each subsequent period until you cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep paid features until then and your account reverts to the free tier afterwards. We do not pro-rate refunds for unused time.
Web subscriptions (Stripe). Manage or cancel your subscription from Settings → Family at any time — the "Manage subscription" button opens the Stripe customer portal where you can update payment details, view invoices, or cancel. Refunds are provided at our discretion; email support@heyhavens.com within 14 days of purchase to request one. EU/UK consumers retain any statutory right of withdrawal that applies under local law.
iOS subscriptions (Apple In-App Purchase). All payments, refunds, and renewals for subscriptions purchased through the iOS app are handled by Apple. Cancel from your Apple ID account settings on your device at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com — Haven cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases. Subscriptions purchased through the iOS app are also governed by the Apple Standard EULA.
Price changes. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before any price change to your existing subscription. If you do not wish to accept the new price, cancel before the next renewal.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
You may delete your account or your family at any time from Settings. Account and family deletions take effect immediately on the live database — your data is gone from production systems the moment you confirm. Encrypted off-site backups roll off within 30 days, after which no copy of your data remains on Haven infrastructure. Family data shared between members (tasks, documents, transactions) is governed by the per-category retention settings the family admin configures. 9. Service Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
10. Limitation of Liability
Haven is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms with reasonable notice. Continued use of Haven after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be notified by email.
12. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Haven shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada.
Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact support@heyhavens.com and give Haven at least 30 days to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.
Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.
